How To Make Skinny Low Calorie Christmas Cookies
There are a couple of tricks to making a healthier low calorie Christmas cookie. Firstly, sugar has a lot of calories. One cup of sugar boasts 773 calories. Swerve sugar replacement has 0 calories. Butter packs a big calorie punch too. A few substitutes for butter include: greek yogurt, black beans, applesauce, and pumpkin puree.
Cup for cup, flour and flavored protein powder have about the same number calories. My go to substitute for flour is Quest protein powder, a low carbohydrate protein powder that bakes well. Going forward, I will substitute half of the flour for protein powder. I use these methods in my Low Carb Chocolate Chunk Cookies and Low Carb Pumpkin Spice Snickerdoodles.
