I have a new place to plan ALL THE THINGS! I can’t wait to show you what I picked up at Goodwill over the weekend. I had to take my daughter to Urgent Care, for a suspected case of strep throat (it was fake news, no strep). I bribed her to go there in the first place by reminding her that Goodwill is in the same parking lot. As we approached, a man was loading my new kitchen planning desk out of his truck. We saw the desk in his truck and scrambled over to ask how much they were going to charge for it. We settled on $20.00!
Let me just say, I have a nice big office here with a big Mac Book Pro, huge island, cabinetry, and 24 feet of french doors. I am sure I will share it at some point. It’s beautiful. The problem is two things; it’s really far away from the main gathering area of the house and our farm cat Milo lives in the office full time. I don’t trust him around my sweet baby boy so my time in there is limited.
I never did my menu planning in the office though. I usually sit at the kitchen island, grabbing my planners that are stored in a messy pile nearby. Being in the kitchen just makes it easier to do menu planning and life planning in general. I am usually jumping up looking for ingredients and returning to the planner to write things down. I own other businesses and primarily do that work from the “real” office. When I was able to grab this desk from Goodwill for $20.00, I wasn’t sure where I was going to put it. Once we got it home, it hit me! This would be the PERFECT place (my own quiet place) to store my planners, pencils that I don’t want anyone to touch, garden journals, notecards, camera, everything!
The desk is small so I stored the planners and my laptop in a little basket just next to the desk. I usually work on menu planning once a week, before I get groceries. This makes it easy for me to pull out my menu planner and my household planner and sit right here and plan away, with a cup of coffee.
I threw some of my favorite little apothecary bottles on top, which seems fitting for the winter. I am going to paint this desk the perfect shade of cream with a peek of light green on the inside. I can’t wait.
I also am able to sit here with my laptop and get some work done for this blog, while the baby plays nearby. I’m doing that RIGHT NOW! That is a life saver for me. In the Spring, I will be able to roll open the casement windows that sit just to the right and enjoy the beautiful weather while I work. I can’t wait for that.
I’m so excited to have my new kitchen planning desk where I can work on all things household. Menu planning, life planning, garden planning…I love planning…even when plans change. It’s fun to look ahead and this little desk keeps all of my ideas in one place.
