Dark Hot Chocolate Mix
It keeps getting colder outside, and I’m not sure why it takes me by surprise every year. Fall is the coziest season and this homemade hot chocolate mix makes it even cozier. This year I have been really focused on making more and more things at home. Sometimes it just hits me, the things that I buy that I don’t need to. Like hot chocolate mix- someone else just came up with a mix and packaged it. We can do this ourselves at home friends. We’ve got this.
Also, store-bought hot chocolate packets just don’t hit the spot for me. They may a weak and watery, hot chocolate and they ultimately don’t mix well (all that wasted chocolate at the bottom though!). Since I don’t have time to melt chocolate bars and lovingly mix them with cream; I came up with this homemade hot chocolate mix that tastes rich and chocolatey. This is easily scooped and mixed with hot water or milk (use milk).

INGREDIENTS YOU NEED FOR THIS HOT COCOA RECIPE
You can make this homemade hot chocolate mix with regular sugar or sugar-free Swerve. I always choose sugar-free but my recipes work exactly the same with regular sugar.
- Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa Powder: This cocoa powder is so good.
- Dry Milk Powder: For a creamier flavor.
- Vanilla Powder: Intense vanilla flavor.
- Sugar or Swerve Sugar Substitute: Use regular confectioners sugar or Swerve confectioners (sugar-free).
- Chocolate Chips or Lilys Chocolate Chips (sugar-free): Your favorite chocolate chips or Lily’s sugar-free chocolate chips (sweetened with Stevia)
- Vanilla Extract: Just a little.
- Salt: For a flavor explosion.
